Job Description
Role Purpose
The Executive Producer (EP) is the key decision-maker for the annual Australian Pup and Handler Competition (AUPHC) event weekend. They are responsible for the successful planning, coordination, execution, and smooth running of the competition. The EP leads the production of the event by collaborating with a Co-Producer and local pup and handler organisations in the designated host city.
The EP acts as the primary liaison between the event production team and the APAH Management Committee, providing regular updates and seeking committee approval for specific financial decisions.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and delivery of the Australian Pup and Handler Competition annually.
- Coordinate with local pup and handler groups in the host city to produce the event.
- Work closely with the Co-Producer to delegate tasks and manage project timelines.
- Ensure the event weekend runs efficiently, safely, and in line with APAH values.
- Oversee logistics including venue booking, performer arrangements, technical requirements, and run-of-show.
- Communicate regularly with the APAH Management Committee, including providing status updates and seeking approval for necessary expenditures.
- Manage and monitor the competition budget in collaboration with the APAH Treasurer.
- Mitigate issues as they arise during planning and execution to ensure the event runs smoothly.
- Support the development of inclusive, accessible, and engaging experiences for all attendees.
- Represent APAH positively and professionally within the pup and handler community.
- Assist in post-event debriefs and reporting to help shape future competitions.

Person Specification
Essential Experience & Skills
- Demonstrated experience in producing or co-producing live events or competitions, preferably within the LGBTIQA+ or kink communities in Australia.
- Proven project or event management skills, including timeline, budget, and stakeholder coordination.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; able to motivate and manage a diverse team of volunteers and collaborators.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience working with community groups or non-profit organisations.
- Ability to manage stress and resolve issues in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations.
Desirable Attributes
- Knowledge and appreciation of the Australian pup and handler community and its values.
- Previous involvement in APAH events or similar kink/fetish community spaces.
- Experience working with committees or reporting into community governance structures.
- Competency in digital tools used for event coordination (e.g., shared drives, communications platforms, budgeting tools).
